Virtual Science Labs- Redesigning with Technology
$220.00 – $240.00
Sometimes, experiments cannot be done in person. Students may be forced to stay home, or the necessary equipment is too expensive, or students are not quite mature enough to be trusted with handling potentially dangerous materials. In the professional world, scientists may opt to program their own simulation to run a virtual experiment. Thankfully, there are many age-appropriate simulations already out there for teachers to utilize and can provide an important opportunity for students to learn. How can virtual experiments fill in the gaps so that students still get a chance to explore scientific concepts they otherwise would not have an opportunity to explore? Teachers in this course will research tools that can be utilized by their students and develop experiments with web-based tools, such as simulations, to be used in their classrooms. Applicable to teachers of any subject/grade level.
45 hours / 3 credits inservice and graduate credits.
