Understanding the Impact of Interoception on School Performance

In this course participants will learn about the 8 th “hidden” sense, interoception. Participants will study the underlying neuroanatomy and neurological processes that support interoceptive ability. Participants will learn how interoception impacts homeostasis and dictates self-regulation, emotional regulation and the formation of a self concept. By the end of this course, participants will have an in-depth knowledge of interoception, which common diagnosis have poor interoceptive ability, and interoceptions impact on learning and participation in school. This course will also review currently available assessments for interoception and provide resources to promote understanding interoception and how it impacts the daily lives of students.
This course is applicable for related service providers, K-12. 45 hours.
