Strategies for Affirming Neurodiversity in School
$220.00 – $240.00
Affirming neurodiversity requires a collective effort to recognize, respect, and celebrate neurological differences and is a critical aspect of providing student-focused therapy in school. By implementing strategies that support and accommodate neurodivergent individuals in various contexts, we can create a more inclusive, empathetic, and dynamic school experience. Participants will develop an in-depth understanding of neurodiversity and neurodivergent disorders such as autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and dyslexia to name a few. They will learn how to create inclusive school spaces and emphasize neurodivergent student strengths in therapeutic practice. Participants will explore shifting their perspectives to foster empathy, to support inclusive policies and promote self-advocacy of their neurodivergent students. This course was created for school-based related service providers, K-12. 45 hours.
45 hours / 3 credits in-service and graduate credits.
