School-based Interventions for Developing Interoception

Interoception plays a crucial role in maintaining homeostasis and is the foundation for self-regulation, emotional regulation and social connections. In this course, participants will become well versed in interoception and its impact on functional performance in students. This course will explain the wide spectrum of interoceptive sensory impairment and its association to autism, sensory processing disorder, anxiety, and depression to name a few. Participants will explore how interoception impacts emotional regulation and the importance of linking language to emotions. Participants will also learn about co-regulation, self-regulation and evidenced-based treatment interventions and strategies to foster the development of interoceptive ability. This course will also discuss how trauma and interoception are intrinsically linked.

This course is applicable for related service providers, k-12. 45 hours.
