Occupational Therapy’s Role in Addressing Visual Insufficiency in School
$220.00 – $240.00
Poor Visual Efficiency is a complex condition that requires comprehensive evaluation
and targeted treatment. It is estimated that 1 in 10 children have a vision problem
significant enough to impact learning and 50% of them go undiagnosed through typical
vision screenings. By understanding the components of visual efficiency, the different
categories of visual efficiency, and the signs and symptoms of visual efficiency,
participants will be better able identify and screen for students struggling with this
condition. Participants will also learn how visual inefficiency impacts learning and
occupational performance in the classroom and school environment. Participants will
be better equipped to provide effective therapeutic interventions and strategies to
strengthen and manage visual efficiency. This course will also cover vision therapy and
ways therapists can collaborate with optometrists. Enhancing visual efficiency can lead
to improved academic performance, participation in sports, and overall participation in
the school environment. This course is applicable for occupational therapists, K-12. 45
hours.
45 hours / 3 credits in-service and graduate credits.
