Occupational Therapy and Sensory Modulation in Social Emotional Learning
$220.00 – $240.00
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Sensory Modulation, when integrated, provide a comprehensive framework for addressing the diverse needs of students. By nurturing emotional intelligence and sensory regulation, we can foster environments that support growth and success for students. In this course, participants will investigate the connection between SEL and sensory modulation. Participants will explore SEL frameworks and current school-based interventions for sensory modulation. This course will demonstrate how sensory modulation plays a foundational role in developing the core competencies outlined in SEL. Participants will explore how sensory modulation difficulties can impact competency growth and identify strategies to support students’ sensory needs in the context of social emotional learning. This course will also discuss the importance of collaboration within the interdisciplinary team to meet all sensory modulation and SEL needs of students. By the end of this course, participants will learn the 5 professional responsibilities the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) deems important to promote SEL in schools.
This course is applicable for school-based occupational therapists, K-12. 45 hours.
45 hours / 3 credits in-service and graduate credits.
