Literacy: Instructional Best Practices

States are making a big shift in the way they want teachers to deliver literacy instruction. Governors are spearheading the idea to hold schools accountable for their current practices. The Science of Reading and the Six Pillars of Reading Instruction are driving current best practices. When districts align their curriculum to the current best practices, this course will help educators know where to begin. Topics for this course will include the components of a good literacy program, ELLs, the six reading pillars, and creating a robust lesson plan.

This course applies to all educators and administrators, grades K-12.

45 hours / 3 credits in-service and graduate credits.
