Language function is essentially using language for a specific purpose such as expressing ideas, communicating with peers, and demonstrating understanding of academic content. In order to communicate ideas, students use both oral language and written language. By the end of this course you will understand the language functions, how to promote use of language functions for ENL students, and the difference between the language functions and forms.
