Educators must be resourceful when teaching students; providing just the right amount of support to encourage learning without creating dependence. This course will explore and define instructional strategies, supports, cues and prompting. Scaffolding skills and differentiated instruction will be discussed. At the conclusion of this course, participants will have an understanding of instructional prompts and techniques to use within the classroom to maximize their students’ learning. In this course, participants will be able to identify learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic), understand differentiated instruction and scaffolding in relation to students’ styles of learning, understand the differences between Prompting and Cueing and their hierarchies,and learn strategies to incorporate into the classroom and therapy room to help students with optimize learning through a combination of learning styles. This course is applicable to all educators, guidance counselors/social workers/psychologists, administrators, and any related service providers of all subjects, grades K-12.

45 hours / 3 credits inservice and graduate credits.
